Proactive Patrols Lead to Arrest Following Assault on Officers

Yesterday evening, Neighbourhood Officers were on patrol in the Hulme Park area following reports of anti-social behaviour and suspected drug dealing.

While conducting proactive patrols, officers identified a man behaving suspiciously and engaging with individuals believed to be involved in drug use. When officers attempted to speak with him, the male became violent, resisting arrest, biting two officers and assaulting a third.

Following his arrest, officers recovered a lock knife and a significant amount of cash.

Thankfully, the officers involved sustained only minor injuries and continue to receive support.

A 25-year-old man remains in police custody on suspicion of three counts of assaulting an emergency worker and possession of a bladed article.

Today, the same officers will once again be conducting proactive patrols in Hulme and surrounding areas, targeting those responsible for anti-social behaviour, drug-related activity and other criminality that impacts our communities. We remain committed to keeping our neighbourhoods safe and taking robust action against those who seek to cause harm or distress to local residents.
